The Impact

The Thanksgivukkah Festival:

Focuses on gratitude and miracles of religious freedom. Connects the Hanukkah story to the Pilgrim story and highlights the individual immigrant story of so many Jewish American families who came to America to escape religious persecution.

Celebrates the protection of religious freedom in America as our basic 1st amendment right and one we give special thanks for on this day at this time.

Reinforces the cultural connection between Thanksgiving and Hanukkah of family gatherings, eating delicious foods from both traditions, and rededicating ourselves to building community.

Shalom Rav.

What Will You Do with the Money?

We are raising money to produce this fall daytime festival. The cost includes talent fees, audio/visual rentals, matzoh meal, picnic tables/eating area, beverages, Security, outdoor stage with steps, backdrop, cooking equipment for different cuisines, tent and table rentals, decorations, design fees, and everything else that will make this amazing event happen.

In line with our t-shirts and Notecards sold on Moderntribe.com, 10% of the proceeds of the festival goes to Mazon, a Jewish Response to Hunger with the rest of it going to fund theatre programming for at risk kids at The Pico Union Project.

I am a marketing and sales executive based in Los Angeles. Yes, that's Joan River's Tush behind me. I am a B.U. grad and had the opportunity to spend time in Israel via a semester abroad program, and a 10-month national service program, Otzma. I am the co-founder of the popular Facebook page, Thanksgivukkah- with my brilliant S-n-L, Dana Reichman Gitell who curates all the content for the page. Our commemorative t-Shirts and Greeting cards designed by artist Kim DeMarco are available at ModernTribe.com. Other than Thanksgivukkah, my other passions are Game of Thrones, Woody Allen Pre 1992, Coffee, Red Wine, and Community. Thanks for stopping by.
