“I got sick about a year ago and had to close my three businesses because I wasn’t able to keep up with them. I have been struggling so much this past year—having this food is such a blessing.”
Another customer shared,
“Our family gets $16 a month on an EBT card because I have a part-time job. It’s not enough to afford healthy food.”
This is the story of families around San Diego County. For too many, their income doesn’t meet the high cost of living. Fresh food is a luxury they can’t afford, so instead they subsist on cheap, unhealthy food.
