Coastal Roots Farm’s Produce Donation Program promotes community health and wellness and increases access to healthy food and nutrition education to those who need it most.
Healthy habits are key determinants of health, but are hard to incorporate into daily life for those who never know where their next meal will come from or who are forced to choose cheaper, less nutritious foods to feed their family. The Farm provides an average of four servings of produce, the suggested daily recommendation, to an estimated 4,000 individuals in North County, San Diego each month through:
- Produce donations to the charitable food system via nonprofit partners (Community Resource Center, Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Jewish Family Service, Kitchens for Good)
- Free distributions at Camp Pendleton for military families
- Pop-up Market at Vista Community Clinic for individuals from low-income backgrounds
- Pay-What-You-Can Farmstand in Encinitas
