Who We Are
Mezumenet is the University of Maryland’s Jewish a cappella group for treble voices. Founded in 2008 by four women who studied and sang together in Israel, we have just celebrated our fifteenth year of making music for Jewish communities in the United States and around the world.
What We Do
Mezumenet’s repertoire includes traditional Jewish melodies, current Israeli pop, contemporary radio hits, and original parodies. As a group, we have frequently booked gigs on campus and in Jewish spaces throughout the DMV. We are the sole treble group to have placed in Kol HaOlam — the national collegiate Jewish a cappella competition.
Mezumenet records a biennial studio album and puts on two concerts each academic year. We arrange most of our own songs, and our music spans many languages — from English and Hebrew to Yiddish and Ladino.
Why We Need Your Help
Mezumenet recently celebrated fifteen years as a group, hosting a final concert with our wonderful alumni. While we are saying farewell to performing, we are putting together one last studio album this summer, with all of our current repertoire. However, as a student organization, we rely entirely on the generosity of our friends, family, and fans to raise the funds we need to share our music with the world.
Your donations will help us cover the costs of recording, editing, mixing, and production of our sixth and final studio album. The proceeds from this recording will then go to Jewish organizations focused on women’s issues. Please help us share the joy of music with our friends, families, fans, and Jewish communities around the world!
