My name is Layla Frankel and I’m a Nashville-based soul singer/songwriter, performer, and recording artist.  I have launched this campaign with the hope of raising $15K to fund a music video for my upcoming holiday single, “Hanukkah Honey “ – an upbeat, soulful, Motown-inspired Hanukkah song with undeniable commercial appeal. Because we feel Hanukkah is underrepresented on the holiday radio playlists, and this song could be a hit!  But in order for this song to really reach its potential, it needs a hit video. Our goal is to create a video that matches the scope and production quality of the song which, in this case, calls for something big and elaborate and over the top…but in a tasteful way.

Our vision is to create a Hallmark-style music video that would measure up against other commercial holiday pop songs but with our own comedic Jewish flavor.

You can listen to the track at this private Soundcloud link: https://on.soundcloud.com/ZFzsF

We are currently set to shoot this video on October 16th in Los Angeles with an LA-based production team directed by Marc Morgan and are asking for assistance in helping us reach our budgeting goal.  This budget would cover the costs of the studio, crew, costuming, lighting, dancers, storyboarding, filming, and editing of this project. The targeted release date would be Friday, December 1st.

In return for your sponsorship, I will put your name in the film credits and send a personalized Hanukkah thank you card.

Post production:  Our desired video budget is $10K but I’ve set the campaign request for $15K with hopes of acquiring additional funds for publicity. Once the video is complete, I would love to hire a publicist to reach out to various Jewish publications, holiday playlists, and media platforms to promote the song and get some buzz. With your contribution, the novelty of the song, and the intended high production value of the video, I have confidence that it could have a large-scale reach within both the American and global Jewish communities.

We’ve spent considerable time in the studio molding and shaping this little holiday gem into something I am incredibly proud of and cannot wait to share. But with a high-quality music video, I truly believe this song has the potential to be a Hanukkah classic. Together, with your help, we can share in the Hanukkah holiday spirit and create the Hanukkah pop song and video we’ve all been waiting for.

Layla Frankel Music
TN, USA

Layla Frankel doesn’t fit in a box. When she moved to Nashville in 2017, fresh off a cross-country tour in support of her debut EP, Tame The Fox, she tried. But she realized she was too bluesy for the country artists, too poppy for folk, and she had more soul on stage than most Nashville audiences had seen before.Since then, Layla’s music has developed into a form all of its own, with a genre that might be best described as “Soulcana.” It integrates the vocal styles of Bonnie Rait and the sophisticated pop sound of Sheryl Crow. It pays homage to the poetic lyricism of Joni Mitchell and Ricki Lee Jones. Most notably, it plays with melodies, unexpected chord structures, and showcases her stunning vocal power and agility - all of which can be found in spades when listening to her latest EP, Postcard From the Moon.Produced by Grammy-honored guitarist, Jim Kimball, and recorded at the iconic StartStruck Studio in Nashville, Postcard from the Moon features six original tracks that showcase Layla’s timeless, soulful vocals, and skillful craft. In a world of boxes and labels, Layla’s sound aims to redefine the lines that have been so carefully etched in our cultural musical lexicon.
