We are making an album! The idea for this album of original Jewish music stems from what began as an informal virtual gathering every week since the pandemic started to bring community together through prayer and song (we’d love you to join us for havdallah livestream each week at www.facebook.com/JaredSteinMusic).
We are excited to record the body of work that these havdallah singalongs are built around, which all started with Jared’s original havdallah setting. His melodies are sung in school, synagogue, and camp communities all over the country and now it’s time to make them available to all as a resource and as an artistic contribution to the Jewish music canon.
Jared’s wholesome and intentional compositional style pairs perfectly with Jamie’s sweet and soulful voice, creating a dynamic and unique blend of moments that are rooted in tradition, yet speak to the yearnings of the present day. In our setting of “Mi Haish“, Jared takes the Hebrew words from Psalm 34: 13-15 “Mi haish, he’hafetz chayim…” and links them to the following original English lyrics:
When we see the good in each other,
use our words to honor one another,
lift our heads up, seek peace and pursue…
…Who do you want to be in this life?
We hope that this album will inspire positivity and joy in your life and have a lasting impact on your well-being.
Become part of the RAINBOW by contributing TODAY!
Here’s why we need your help. There are many costs involved with recording and mixing an album properly, and we certainly want to do it right. Costs include paying an engineer and time in the recording studio, paying session musicians to play and travel to the sessions, mixing and mastering as well as paying a producer to oversee the process.
We have included several ways that you can contribute and get awesome perks like copies of the album when it’s done, Jamie’s baking goods, etc! Please take a moment right now to look through and see which part of the rainbow you’d like to make shine by contributing whatever you can to the project.
Please share this with friends so they can be part of the rainbow as well!
Thank you for all of your help making this dream a reality!
