It’s freaking hot out in Jerusalem.
And we may come from different cultures and religions, we may speak different languages and see the world through different eyes, but we are all a sum part of chemical and biological processes, and we all get hot.
And when we get hot we get irritated and the tensions that are already there can ignite.
So let’s cool things off by having popsicles.
We’re handing them out to anyone who wants:
Men carrying prayer rugs on their way to the Mosque.
Women going to the Western Wall.
Families walking north and south and back again.
Priests and nuns, and pilgrims from all over the world.
The guys in the Border Police.
Tourists, too.
And lots and lots and lots of kids.
Basically, if you want a popsicle, you get a popsicle and it’s as simple as that.
