We are reaching out to you with immense pride and gratitude, as your generous donations last year played a crucial role in the Sid Jacobson JCC Hammer baseball team winning its first gold medal in baseball at the 2024 Maccabi Games. This victory was not just a triumph on the field but also a powerful moment of restoring our boys’ pride in being Jewish in a world where anti-Semitism continues to be on the rise.

As we look forward to the upcoming Maccabi Games in Pittsburgh, we once again turn to our community for support. Every dollar raised will be used for training, uniforms, travel, and fees associated with participating in this vital event.

The Maccabi Games, often referred to as the Jewish Olympics, is a global event that unites Jewish athletes from around the world. It is a celebration of Jewish culture, sportsmanship, and unity. Beyond promoting physical fitness and friendly competition, the Maccabi Games serve as a powerful platform for reinforcing the Jewish identity of young adults. In these troubling times, with anti-Semitism on the rise, the significance of the Maccabi Games has never been greater.

For our young Jewish athletes, participating in the Maccabi Games is more than just a sporting event—it is a profound connection to their heritage and a chance to stand in solidarity with Jewish communities worldwide. Our team represents not just their local community but the broader Jewish diaspora, affirming the importance of unity, identity, and pride in being Jewish.

To make our participation in the 2025 Maccabi Games in Pittsburgh a reality, we are seeking donations from individuals and organizations who share our commitment to this noble cause. Your contribution will serve several essential purposes:

  1. Training and Preparation: The foundation of our team’s success lies in their rigorous training, which is vital not only from an athletic standpoint but also in setting the stage for what the Maccabi Games are truly about. Through dedicated practice, our athletes not only hone their skills but also internalize the values of sportsmanship, unity, and Jewish identity that the Maccabi Games represent. Your donation will enable us to secure valuable practice time, ensuring our athletes are well-prepared for the challenges ahead in Pittsburgh, both on and off the field.
    2. Uniforms and Equipment:Every athlete deserves to wear their team’s colors with pride. Your support will help provide high-quality uniforms and equipment, fostering a sense of unity and professionalism among our players. Some of the uniforms will feature the phrase “More Than Baseball” in both English and Hebrew, reinforcing the message that while these boys are free to go to school and play the sport they love, there are boys their age being held hostage. This poignant reminder underscores the deeper significance of our participation in the Maccabi Games.
    3. Travel and Participation Fees: The costs associated with participating in the Maccabi Games, including travel, accommodation, and registration fees, can be significant.

Your donation will help alleviate these financial burdens, making it possible for all deserving athletes to join us in Pittsburgh.

Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can empower these young athletes to become ambassadors of Jewish identity, sportsmanship, and unity, standing tall in the face of adversity.

In Hebrew, the number 18 holds special significance. It is represented by the letters Chet (8) and Yud (10), which together spell "Chai" (חי), translating to "life." This number goes beyond its numerical value; it embodies the essence of a meaningful life full of kindness, thoughtfulness, selflessness, and maintaining a good-natured, moral, and ethical stance throughout their lives. Now, let's translate this significance into action for our team. We will have 13 incredible players on our roster, If each player can secure just 1 donation of 18 dollars per day over the course of the fundraiser, we will not only reach but exceed our fundraising goal.
