The Jewish Innovation

TAMID at USC offers our members unprecedented opportunities for hands-on interaction with the Israeli economy. The model spans the students’ entire time at USC, instilling a profound and sustained commitment to Israel from a business perspective. Our vision is to reinvent Israeli advocacy for new generations by leveraging Israeli innovation in a way that will effectively reach students at a personally compelling time and at a professionally meaningful level.

After a semester of education, students are divided into investing and consulting tracks. Students in the investing track prepare research on Israeli-related companies and manage a simulated portfolio of these companies throughout the year. Students in the consulting track provide pro-bono business consulting for Israeli startups and nonprofits.

At the conclusion of each academic year, a group of students are chosen from each chapter to participate in the TAMID Summer Fellowship. These students are flown to and housed in Israel for ten weeks, all expenses paid, to intern for promising and established Israeli companies in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

The Impact

Through TAMID and the TAMID Summer Fellowship, we let students discover Israel for themselves. We enable students who have never lived in Israel to spend two full months exploring their professional interests and engaging daily with Israelis. All of the national TAMID summer fellows live in the same neighborhood and thus establish a strong network with young professionals from top universities across the United States who are eager to meet future friends and business partners. The Fellowship empowers participants to fully immerse in Israeli culture and lifestyle for the two month period, rapidly exposing them to Hebrew and Israeli chutzpah while also building strong relationships with prevalent Israeli business leaders and Israeli entrepreneurs.

TAMID is an investment in the future of the US-Israel economic relationship because we attract students who previously are not necessarily engaged with Israel. Our focus is not exclusively on Jewish students–any student interested in Israel is welcome to apply. The relationship these students form with Israel will remain with them as they transition to professional careers, and it is important to show the Jewish and non-Jewish professional community that there are significant financial opportunities in doing business with Israel.

What Will You Do with the Money?

The money we raise will be spent in three ways:

1) Our fellowship program. Our most significant costs include the travel and housing expenses for the Summer Fellowship. We estimate approximately $5k/student to cover all of these costs. Last year, TAMIDxUSC sent 8 of the 40 total TAMID fellows to Israel for a 10-week period.

2) The launching of our investment fund. TAMIDxUSC will reinvest all returns and dividends in our investment portfolio, and we simply need a principle donation of $5k to get started.

3) Annual operations. We fly in speakers, rent venues, cater food at events, purchase books such as Startup Nation, purchase hosting services for our website, distribute apparel such as t-shirts, and hold social events. All of these expenses contribute to the special culture, network, and community that we work hard to create. This is only made possible with the support of our generous donors.
