The Jewish Innovation
Certain large donors who have made much of the aliyah possible are not in the position this time around to help. These 250 Bnei Menashe have left everything they know to make Aliyah and we will not let them down.
Families like the Baites: Yotam Ginminthang Baite is 32 years old, had his own carpentry business, and was living on India’s northeastern border with Myanmar. All of his family – his parents, his siblings and their families – had already made aliyah to Israel. Finally Yotam, his wife and children have fulfilled their own aliyah dream and joined his family. It costs $32,000 for the Baite family’s aliyah, including sustaining them in our special absorption center for three months.
Funds have been raised to bring all 250 to Israel. We need nearly $500,000 more to sustain them as they learn towards their conversion and prepare to enter Israeli life as productive members of society. Please help us secure the successful Aliyah of the Baite family, and the others who have turned over their lives to make this move.
The Impact
The return of the Bnei Menashe to Zion is a modern-day miracle. It is a testament to the determination and resolve of the people of Israel to come home again.
Despite numerous challenges, the Bnei Menashe, without exception, wish to return to Israel, to do their part to ensure the future of the Jewish Land and the Jewish nation. They wandered in the Diaspora throughout the generations, but never forgot where they came from and the place they dream to return to. It’s incredibly inspiring to see their love and determination; and so challenging to know that we cannot simply fulfill their dreams on the spot.
Another 7,000 still remain in India, waiting for the day when they too will be able to return to Israel and the Jewish people. We hope, some day soon, to bring them all.
What Will You Do with the Money?
Shavei Israel has brought some 3,000 Bnei Menashe back home to Zion. We have set them up in new homes in Acre, Upper Nazareth, Migdal HaEmek and Safed, and this newest group will be set up in Katzrin in the Golan Heights. We ensure that their Hebrew education continues and we set up after-school programs for their children to guarantee that their integration into Israeli life is smooth and successful. We run job training programs and have placed Bnei Menashe men and women into meaningful and well-paying positions.
It takes $4000 to cover the costs of bringing over and sustaining each new immigrant for three months. We have raised more than half of the $1,000,000 necessary. Please help ensure the successful Aliyah of the Bnei Menashe by giving generously.
